Healing Through Food // Sweet Laurel x Renew Juicery x Shira RD
Our first seminar was such a lovely event! Thank you to all came out to share the evening with us.
The event took place in the dreamy Venice Learning Garden, located on the property of Venice High School. We began with a garden tour featuring Master Gardener, David King. He is passionate about the garden, and does a beautiful job maintaining it a community partnership space filled with organic and local produce.
Laurel Gallucci of Sweet Laurel opened the event with an intimate discussion of her own Healing Through Food story, and revealed her personal journey with the elimination diet and how it proves to benefit over all inflammation. She listed the foods of this day and age that should be removed from one’s diet (like trans fats, processed foods, refined sugars), as well as foods that can be added in for optimal health.
Next, Brooke, the amazing juicer behind Renew Juicery and Mylk spoke about toxins, and how we can overcome them through her five easy detox tips. She brought juices for all to sample (delicious) and explained how the various organic and local fruits, vegetables, herbs, nuts and salt she uses in each juice and milk play a role in removing toxins and providing maximum reset in one’s body.
Shira RD wrapped up the panel discussion with her expertise on gut health, and its importance in your over all health. She eloquently broke down the way our bodies digest food, and the necessity of a healthy gut in each of us. Shira is beyond knowledgeable, and provided such insight as a practicing clinician with expertise on cutting edge research in the world of nutrition.
We closed the event with a Q & A session. So many brave questions! We loved seeing how people came to learn and advance their own personal journey’s toward optimal health and wellness!
We’d like to thank the Venice Learning Garden for generously allowing us to use the space for our event. The ambiance it created was incredible. We’d also like to thank our friends who graciously provided items for our goodie bags: Purenola Food, Essential Water, Kind Bars, Olive and June and Blushington.
